We were the first in the Czech Republic to implement SAP Joule for application development.
ČD Cargo, the largest rail freight carrier in the Czech Republic, needed to optimise internal application development without expanding its developer workforce. The company transports goods across Europe and is one of the five largest rail operators in the EU. In cooperation with ČD – Information Systems and SAP, Novasoft designed and delivered the first pilot project in the Czech Republic using the SAP Joule generative AI assistant. We combined our expert knowledge with the capabilities of new technology and validated its benefits directly in the client’s development environment.
The pilot showed that using SAP Joule can shorten application development time by up to 50%.
The challenge
Developing Fiori applications at ČD Cargo was time-intensive and required significant involvement of developers and consultants. With the need for parallel development of multiple apps but no option to expand the team, the client sought a more efficient solution. The challenge was to deploy a tool capable of generating application logic and data models within SAP – quickly, reliably, and without unnecessary manual work.
How we solved it
Together with the client, we designed and executed a pilot scenario using SAP Joule. Based on text prompts, the AI assistant generated application designs including logic and data models. By connecting with SAP Build, it was possible to create workflows and technical specifications. Developers could manage the entire process more effectively and in iterations. SAP Joule also flagged design errors early, reducing the need for extra testing and accelerating deployment.
The pilot project delivered a working tool that brings tangible time and cost savings while paving the way for broader adoption of generative AI in SAP development. ČD Cargo gained a powerful enabler for innovation – and confirmation that experimentation pays off. Thanks to integration with tools such as SAP Build and the ability to work with corporate data in process context, SAP Joule proved itself as a practical assistant even for more complex scenarios. The project demonstrated that, with AI, more can be achieved without enlarging the team – while still maintaining full control over results.
