Sazka needed to bring traditional lotteries online and build a portal ready for heavy load and modern user expectations.
Sazka is the largest and oldest lottery company in the Czech Republic with a tradition spanning over 65 years. After years of success in offline betting, the company set out to expand into the online world and become a leader there as well. In 2016, a digital team was established and the need for a strong technology partner emerged. Bluesoft joined as a key development partner. Together we built a hybrid team that gradually created a robust Sazka.cz portal, integrated dozens of gaming applications, and introduced content management and personalisation using the Kentico platform. Along the way we tackled performance challenges, redesign, and long-term service.
Today, Sazka has a stable, scalable online portal providing entertainment for hundreds of thousands of players every day.
The challenge
Moving lottery games from physical outlets to online required a flexible CMS solution, integration of third-party gaming systems, and the ability to maintain high performance and availability under massive traffic. The user experience had to meet modern expectations of a younger target group, including interactivity, graphic effects, and real-time elements such as minute lotteries, animations, and countdowns.
How we solved it
We created a hybrid development team combining Sazka’s in-house resources with Bluesoft expertise. On Kentico EMS we built a flexible portal, integrated more than ten vendors (gaming systems, transaction gateways, monitoring), and delivered a full front-end redesign. Thanks to Microsoft Azure hosting and careful optimisation, the portal handles extreme traffic volumes and high demands on responsiveness. Bluesoft also provides SLA support and flexible scaling of capacity as needed.
Over more than eight years of cooperation, we have created a technically and commercially successful portal that is now the largest online lottery platform in the Czech Republic. The platform handles dozens of different games and serves diverse customer groups. With this technology foundation, Sazka can continue expanding its digital business within the Allwyn group worldwide.
